This is another project I was looking forward to sharing with you on the blog.
I was recently contacted by a shop owner in a neighbor town, who asked if I would be interested in selling some of my pieces in their recently opened shop. They sell all kinds of articles made by local artists, from clothes and shoes, to pottery and furniture. It is a very cool shop, with many beautiful and unique things, and I was eager to be part of it!
The shop happens to be located in the same mall of a thrift shop, so we went there to see if there was some piece of furniture with potential to get a makeover and when I saw this ugly guy standing there with a $30 tag, I knew it was the one.
Nothing special about it, right? Exactly. But it was wood, all drawers worked well, and because its design was so simple, I knew any interesting detail I added to it would immediately stand out and make a statement.
So I went to my favorite place to look for interesting details, http://www.etsy.com. I usually spend hours browsing on Etsy just for fun, and I am always amazed by the beautiful things I find there every single time!
I found just the perfect pulls and legs for this. Yes, I invested some money here, but I think it was worth it. This is how the ugly duckling looks now.
And this is how i painted it.
Fixed holes and deep scratches with wood filler.
Sanded the whole thing really well to remove all imperfections. I had to use my electric sander for this one, and boy, it was A LOT of sanding.
Cleaned and primed it with Rustoleum Primer Spray.
Rolled Modern Masters Pewter with a sponge roller.
Brushed a second coat of MM Pewter using a Purdy paintbrush.
Sealed with 3 coats of Minwax Polycrylic satin using a paint sprayer.
And now, more pics of the pewter dresser with cool pulls!
Let me know what you think. Thanks for reading!
Patricia.
Beautiful!!!!!!
Will you share the name of the Etsy shop that you purchased the pulls ad legs from, please?
