Navy Blue Sideboard

This is a quick post to show you this nice transformation. One of my clients is a talented interior designer with an amazing taste. Her client is redecorating her house in Vermont and she wanted a fresh look for this gorgeous sideboard.

Her choice of colors was Benjamin Moore Hale Navy, with gold knobs.

Have you ever googled “Hale Navy”? Apparently this color by Benjamin Moore is a huge thing among decorators and I totally understand why. I myself couldn’t resist its beauty and a couple of months ago painted all walls of one of the rooms in my house with that color. It is so pretty, and soothing, and cosy, and elegant. I even consider painting the exterior of my house in Hale Navy. One day…

So, back to the sideboard. This is how it looks now. Not bad, huh?

dsc_3267This color works on everything. Walls, sidings, AND furniture.

Here is how I did it.

Cleaned and spray painted knobs with Rustoleum Brigh Coat, gold.

Cleaned and primed sideboard with Rustoleum Primer spray, black.

Applied 3 coats of Ben Moore Hale Navy (egg shell) with a paint sprayer.

Applied 3 coats of Minwax polycrylic satin also with my paint sprayer.

I love its elegant simplicity. What do you think?

It all started in the spring of 2013. I realized how tired I was to see my house entirely decorated with IKEA stuff. Nothing against IKEA, but after 12 years, I just needed some change. I wanted stylish, original furniture, but noticed that everything I liked from retail stores was way out of my budget. Thanks to Google, Youtube, and a couple of amazing blogs, I was able to discover and explore the world of furniture refinishing, and it was the beginning of my addiction. I now spend my days rescuing old, dull, unwanted pieces of furniture to give them a fresh look so they can be displayed, used and loved again for many more years to come. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Patricia, this is so elegant! Wow, what a transformation. I cannot get over it. And those knobs make it look as if the sideboard is wearing a captain’s uniform. Pinning! And we are featuring you tomorrow at our Sweet Inspiration link party ! Congratulations.

  2. I have been trying to talk the hubby into a sideboard for the dining room. I showed him this post telling him this is exactly what I want to do. He said it was nice and lets go get one.

He has the hardest time imagining the creation before its made. Lovely job and I thank you.
