This month I had a few quiet days, with not many orders to finish, so I finally had time to work on a project I’ve been planning to do for over a year. You have probably seen refinished dressers ornate with nailhead trim, right? Well, since the first time I saw one I became obsessed about it and couldn’t rest until I put my hands on my own nailhead trimmed project. I even had the perfect candidate piece waiting in my storage unit. It was a beautiful chest of drawers I found in a local Facebook tag sale group.
This is the before picture:
My favorite color right now is navy blue (that changes every 10 years or so) and I love how beautiful it looks with gold accents, so another important part of the project was already decided. Colors would be navy blue and gold.
Also because it was my own project, I decided to try a new brand of paint. I see gorgeous projects painted with “Shabby Paints”. There is a legion of talented people who rave about their great quality products , so I went online and got myself a pint of Marine Blue chalk paint. It is not as “navy” as I had initially envisioned, but it is a beautiful deep shade of blue so it would work nicely as well.
You can check out a detailed tutorial with lots of pictures and the step by step for this project on Grillo-Designs Website.

I am very happy with the result and can’t wait to try something different with the nail heads that are left over!
